August 2020 Residential Practice Week

at the Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat in Fort Mitchell, Alabama

Alabama’s first Samatha meditation week will start on Saturday, August 1st and finish on Saturday, August 8th. Dave Woessner and Tom Lockhart will lead the week.

We’ll be using the Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat, in Fort Mitchell, AL. This is a Catholic-run retreat centre (it is run by the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity). Pictures and more information are available on their site at msbt.org/btsr/

The centre is set on 1200 acres along the Chattahoochee River, which are punctuated with ponds, creeks, and hills. It features over 10 miles of well-maintained walking trails, dotted with outlooks, thoughtfully placed benches, and at least one little screened gazebo which looked perfect for meditation. It is isolated and peaceful.

Accommodation is in private rooms with each pair of rooms sharing a bathroom. Meals will be provided.

The cost for room and board is $620 per person.

Atlanta (ATL) is the closest airport. The organizers are happy to help figure out timings, transportation, and (if needed) extra accommodation.

If you’d like to come, please check with the teacher to whom you usually report, and then email Tom at samathaalabama@gmail.com.

Please be in touch as soon as you are able, and in any case before May 15th.
